Drug name: Zineryt (erythromycin-zinc acetate)

Therapeutic effects:

Zineryt is erythromycin-zinc complex, anti-bacterial preparation for local application. Zineryt exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and comedolytic action. Zineryt contains two active ingredients: 1.2% of zinc acetate and 4% of erythromycin.

Erythromycin works by blocking protein synthesis in microbial cells. It exerts bacteriostatic action against microorganisms that cause acne: Propionibacteria acne and Streptococcus epidennidis. Another active ingredient – Zinc acetate decreases the secret production by sebaceous glands, stabilizes cellular membranes, exerts astringent, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic and regenerating action. Zineryt significantly reduces the amount of inflammatory acne elements (papules and pustules) as well an non-inflammatory elements (comedones)

Indications:

Zineryt is indicated for acne treatment of different types and severity.

Zineryt side effects are not common and usually occur in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients:

• Irritation
• Burning
• Dryness of skin integument
• Skin rash
• Urticaria
• Angioedema

Drug interactions:

Zineryt may interact with the following medicines:

• Topical antibiotics
• Topical corticosteroids
• Oral macrolides

Cautions and restrictions:

Zineryt is contraindicated for use in the following conditions:

Individual intolerance (reactions of hypersensitivity in anamnesis) of erythromycin, other macrolides, zinc preparations or other Zineryt components.

After Zineryt solution is prepared, it can be stored at temperature 15-20°C no more than 5 weeks. Prolonged use of Zineryt can lead to cross resistance to other macrolide antibiotics.

Avoid contact of Zineryt with eyes and mucous linings as this may result in irritation and redness.

Additional information: Zineryt should be stored at temperature from 15° till 25°C out of reach of children. Shelf-life period is 3 years.
