Drug name: Voltaren (diclofenac sodium)

Therapeutic effects:

The active ingredient of Voltaren is diclofenac sodium that belongs to a group of medicines called NSAID's (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). The main action mechanism is associated with non-selective blockage of cyclooxygenase type I and II. By blocking this enzyme, diclofenac prevents the production and release of inflammatory mediators: prostoglandins. Prostoglandins play an important role in the genesis of inflammation, pain and fever. Diclofenac sodium quickly relief pain, decreases inflammatory edema.

Indications:

Voltaren tablets and rectal suppositories are used to treat:

Inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the locomotor system: rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid spondylitis, spondylarthritis, osteoarthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Spinal column diseases characterized by pain syndrome
Rheumatoid diseases of extraarticular soft tissues

Gynecological diseases accompanied by inflammation and edema

Migraine attacks (for suppositories) Voltaren emulgel is used to treat:
Post-traumatic inflammation of soft tissues and joints
Rheumatoid diseases of soft tissues (tendovaginitis, bursitis, damages of periarticular tissues)
Pain syndome and edeme associated with the diseases of muscles and joints (including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthrosis, lumbar radiculitis, lumbago (low back pain), ischias.
