Drug name: Tri-Regol (Ethinylestradiol+Levonorgestrel)

Therapeutic effects:

Tri-Regol is a contraceptive combined oral drug. It contains synthetic progestin and estrogen components, which are more active than the natural sex hormones. The action is primarily due to inhibition of the follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormone release that prevents ovulation. The effect is enhanced due to increased viscosity of cervical mucus, which hinders the penetration of sperm into the uterus.

Along with contraceptive effect, Tri-Regol normalizes the menstrual cycle and helps prevent the development of a number of gynecological diseases, including neoplastic.

Indications:

• contraception
• functional disorders of the menstrual cycle (including dysfunctional metrorrhagia, premenstrual syndrome)

Side-effects:

• nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation
• headache
• breast tension, changes in body weight and libido
• depressed mood
• intermenstrual bleeding
• in some cases- discomfort while wearing contact lenses

Drug interactions:

Tri-Regol should be used with caution in combination with the following drugs:

• antibiotics
• anticonvulsants
• some tranquilizers
• some antifungals
• anticoagulants
• tricyclic antidepressants
• beta blockers
• oral antidiabetes drugs, insulin
• hepatotoxic drugs

Cautions and restrictions:

Tri-Regol should not be taken in the following conditions:

• hypersensitivity
• pregnancy, breastfeeding
• severe liver diseases, liver tumors
• congenital hyperbilirubinemia
• cholecystitis, gallstone disease
• chronic colitis
• severe cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders
• thromboembolism
• malignant tumors, especially breast cancer or endometrial cancer
• disorder of lipid metabolism
• severe hypertension
• severe diabetes with vascular complications
• sickle cell anemia, chronic hemolytic anemia
• vaginal bleeding of unknown etiology
• migraine
• otosclerosis
• a history of idiopathic jaundice during pregnancy
• a history of severe itching or herpes during pregnancy

Take Tri-Regol with caution in the following conditions:

• liver and gall bladder diseases
• epilepsy, depression
• ulcerative colitis
• uterine fibroids, mastopathy
• tuberculosis
• renal diseases
• adolescent females (without regular ovulatory cycles)

Additional information:

Store the drug at a temperature of 15-30 C, out of the reach of children. Shelf lie – 5 years.
