Drug name: Peritol (cyproheptadine)

Therapeutic effects: Peritol contains the active ingredient cyproheptadine that belongs to a group of preparations called H1-receptors blockers with antiserotonin activity. The medication prevents the development of allergic reaction. Peritol also exerts antipruritic, antiexudative, anticholinergic and sedative action. Cyproheptadine stumulates appetite, block hypersecretion of growth hormone (somatotropin) in patients with acromegaly and secretion of ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) in patients with Itsenko-Cushing syndrome.
