Therapeutic effects: Nitroglycerin is antianginal, vasodilating remedy that belongs to a group of medicines called nitrates. Action mechanism is associated with the release of nitrogen oxide in the smooth muscles of the blood vessels. Nitrogen oxide activates the enzyme called guanylate cyclase and increases the level of cyclic GMP. This ultimately results in relaxation of the smooth muscles.

Nitroglycerin affects the smooth muscles of the vascular wall, dilates peripheral veins, arteries and coronary vessels, decreases preload or postload on the heart tissues, decreases peripheral resistance.

Indications:
