Drug name: Diroton (Lisinopril)
Therapeutic effects: Lisinopril belongs to a group of drugs called ACE inhibitors, which decrease the formation of angiotensin I and II in the human organism. The decrease in angiotensin II leads to a decrease in aldosterone release. Decreases the degradation of bradykinin and increases synthesis of prostoglandins, decreases overall peripheral resistance, arterial pressure, preload, blood pressure in the lung capillaries, increases tolerability of myocardium to stress in patients with chronic heart failure. Dilates arteries in a greater extent compared to veins.
The drug starts to work within an hour after administration. The maximum effect is reached in 6 to 7 hours. The primary effects in treatment of arterial hypertension are seen in 2-3 days of consecutive administration, stable effect is developed within 1 to 2 months of use.
Indications:
The drug is administered in treatment of:
- Arterial hypertension
- Chronic heart failure
- The drug is also used as subsidiary treatment in acute myocardial infraction
- Diabetic nephropathy.
