Drug name: Diane-35 (cyproterone + ethinylestradiol)

Therapeutic effects: Diane-35 is a combined preparation containing cyproterone acetate and ethynilestradiol. The medication keeps high viscosity of uterine mucous that hinders penetration of sperm cells into the urine, suppresses ovulation by inhibiting the release of gonadotrophic hormones and modifies endomethrium making implantation of fertilized egg nearly impossible. Cyproterone blocks androgenic receptors and decreases the effects of androgenization in women.

Indications:

• Contraception in women with effects of androgenization
• Androgen-dependent diseases in women (acne, androgenic alopecia, hirsutism)

Possible Diane-35 side effects include:

• Endocrine system: tenderness, painfulness, enlargement of mammary gland, discharges from mammary gland, changes of body weight
• Urogenital system: vaginal bleedings, changes of vaginal secret, libido changes
• CNS: headache, migraine, decreased mood
• Digestive system: nausea, vomiting
• Other: intolerance of contact lenses, allergic reactions, chloasma

  Drug interactions:

Make sure to inform your doctor if you take any of the following medicines:

• Inductors of microsomal liver enzymes
• Antibiotics
• Beta-blockers
• ACE inhibitors
• Calcium channel blockers
• Antibiotics
• Cholesterol medications (atorvastatin)

Cautions and restrictions:

Diane-35 is contraindicated for use in the following conditions:

• Pregnancy
• Breastfeeding
• Expressed diseases of the liver including liver failure
• Dubin-johnson syndrome
• Rotor syndrome
• Tendency to thrombosis and thromboembolia
• Severe diabetes with vascular complications
• Sickle cell anemia
• Tumors of the mammary gland and uterine
• Endomethriosis
• Disorders of lipid metabolism
• Idiopathic jaundice in pregnant women
• Herpes in pregnant women
• Progressing atherosclerosis
• Migraine
• Severe cardiovascular diseases
• Pancreatitis
• Diabetes

Additional information:

Store the medication out of reach of children at dry and protected from light place. Shelf-life is 5 years. Do not use the medication after expiration date.
