Drug name: Bicillin-3 (Benzathine benzylpenicillin+Benzylpenicillin procaine+Benzylpenicillin)

Therapeutic effects: Bicillin-3 is a long-acting combination penicillin antibiotic. The drug violates the synthesis of peptidoglycan – a mucopeptide of cell membrane, which leads to inhibition of microorganism cell wall synthesis, suppression of the growth and multiplication of bacteria.

Bicillin-3 is active against Gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp. (not producing penicillinase), Streptococcus spp. (including Streptococcus pneumoniae), Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis; Gram-negative bacteria: Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Actinomyces israelii.

The drug is also active against Treponema spp., anaerobic spore-forming bacillus, leishmania. Staphylococcus spp. producing penicillinase is resistant to Bicillin-3.

Indications:

treatment of infectious diseases caused by pathogens susceptible to penicillin
syphilis
yaws
streptococcal infections (acute tonsillitis, scarlet fever, wound infections, erysipelas), with the exception of infections caused by streptococcus group B
prophylaxis of rheumatism
leishmaniasis
